Blida 2 University – Lounici Ali hosts the national conference on African literature

The national conference titled “The liminality of African Literature between Colonial Violence and Postcolonial Reverberations: Narrating Resistance, Memory, and Survival” was inaugurated this morning at the Department of English, Faculty of Letters and Languages, University of Blida 2 – Lounici Ali.
The opening ceremony, officially declared by Professor Farid Kourtel, Rector of the University, took place in the presence of Professor Khalifa Korti, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Languages. The two-day event brings together academics and researchers interested in African literary studies.
In his opening speech, the Rector praised the organizers for their efforts and emphasized the importance of the conference theme, highlighting the need to strengthen cultural and economic openness toward Africa. He added that such meetings bring added value to scholars and researchers in the field of African studies, contributing to cultural and scientific development.
For her part, Dr. Salma Ben Aziza, Chair of the Conference, explained that African literature represents a vital space for understanding the complexities of colonial heritage and its contemporary manifestations, as it seeks to provide in-depth critical readings of literary works addressing issues of resistance, memory, and identity.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty stressed that African literature is not merely a collection of creative texts, but rather a living testimony, noting that the Faculty takes pride in organizing such conferences that enrich academic research.
