A scientific symposium entitled « The November 1st, 2020 Constitution between Constitutional Approaches and Implementation Tools »

The University of Blida 2 hosted, at its Faculty of Law and Political Science, a scientific symposium entitled « The November 1st, 2020 Constitution between Constitutional Approaches and Implementation Tools. » Organized by the Laboratory of Governance and Sustainable Development to mark the sixth anniversary of the referendum on the constitutional amendment, the event drew distinguished participants, led by members of the Constitutional Court.

The proceedings were opened by the University Director, Professor Bachir Ameur, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, Professor Farida Benothmane. In his address, the Director stressed that « commemorating the anniversary of the constitutional amendment is not limited to recalling a pivotal political milestone, but extends to a scientific assessment of how far the Constitution’s provisions have been realized in the institutional reality. » He added that the university, with its laboratories and research expertise, is called upon to accompany the constitutional process through study and analysis, and to put forward proposals that serve the rule of law.

In this context, the symposium centered on a core question: the effectiveness of the logical interdependence between constitutional approaches and the tools for implementing them in Algeria’s 2020 Constitution. Its proceedings were divided into five themes, through which the speakers delivered a range of presentations during the scientific session. Professor Abdelouahab Kherif, of the Constitutional Court, addressed the guarantee of rights and freedoms in the 2020 Constitution, while Professor Abdelaziz Barkouk, also of the Constitutional Court, examined the rights and freedoms that are the subject of the plea of unconstitutionality.

Note: The original title repeats « members of the Constitutional Court » twice, so I rendered it once. I also kept the title and text as continuous paragraphs, without section headings.
