Academics and researchers explore the future of reading in the age of technology at a national forum at Blida 2 University
The University of Blida 2 today hosted the proceedings of a national conference titled « Redefining Reading: Towards the Future of Reading in the Age of Emerging Technologies, » organized by the RIDILCA Laboratory in the Faculty of Arts and Languages, with the participation of researchers and academics from universities across the country.
The conference was officially opened by Professor Meriem Touati, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, who emphasized that reading in the technological age is no longer merely an individual act of knowledge acquisition, but has become a cultural and societal challenge requiring the convergence of research efforts. She added that « Algerian universities are called upon today, more than ever, to be at the forefront of those producing scientific answers to the major transformations reshaping the knowledge landscape. »
In the same vein, Professor Khalifa Quarti, Dean of the Faculty, noted that the topic at hand touches on a fundamental issue concerning the future of reading practices in a rapidly evolving digital environment, expressing his hope that the conference proceedings would lead to actionable scientific recommendations.
Regarding the conference’s central problematic, Dr. Iman Bilouk, Chair of the conference, revealed that it is built upon a research approach that goes beyond diagnosis to propose concrete applied models. She clarified that « the question framing this conference is not only how reading has changed in light of technology, but how the human relationship with text and knowledge can be rebuilt in a world where the tools of cultural mediation are being reshaped anew.
