On the 70th anniversary of Student Day, Blida 2 University honors its students and opens up prospects for institutional partnership with the National Security Directorate
Blida 2 University commemorated the 70th anniversary of Student Day, observed on May 19, in tribute to the 1956 Algerian student strike, through activities that combined national remembrance, honoring outstanding students, and strengthening institutional cooperation.
In his speech, the university rector, Professor Bachir Ameur, stated that Algerian universities draw inspiration from the sacrifices of students during the Revolution, emphasizing the importance of linking academic excellence with the preservation of national identity.
The event featured a historical presentation on the May 19, 1956 strike delivered by Mahfoud Achaour, highlighting the role of students in supporting the liberation struggle. It also included an address by Hajar Ben Ghoula, the provincial secretary of the National Organization for the Preservation of Memory and the Transmission of the Message of the Martyrs, who stressed the importance of safeguarding national memory.
The program also included the signing of a partnership agreement between the university and the Blida provincial police to promote a culture of security and citizenship, as well as the recognition of high-achieving students in innovation, digital media, and sports, particularly the winners of the National University Games in Biskra. The ceremony concluded with poetry readings in celebration of this national commemoration.
