Wide-ranging awareness day on the dangers of smoking and tobacco
The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at University of Blida 2 hosted today a wide-ranging awareness day on the dangers of smoking and tobacco, on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day and the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Psychotropic Substances. The event brought together the university’s Social Medicine Centre, specialist psychology faculty, and a number of student scientific clubs.
In an atmosphere that united medical and academic staff with a broad student audience, the event was attended by Rector Bachir Ameur and Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences Professor Redouane Zaâmouchi. On the occasion, Rector Ameur affirmed that « the university is not merely a space for knowledge, but an educational institution responsible for the physical and psychological wellbeing of its students, » adding that « today’s activity sends a clear message that Blida 2 places the health of its university community at the heart of its priorities, and we reaffirm our commitment to sustaining such awareness initiatives on an ongoing basis. »
The program combined outreach with direct engagement, featuring awareness and guidance sessions led by psychology specialists, workshops addressing addiction prevention strategies and smoking cessation methods, and the screening of educational videos. Dedicated open spaces were also provided for individual counselling and psychological support.
