Under the slogan « A people who sacrificed and triumphed »… Blida 2 University commemorates the 8th of May

The University of Blida 2 commemorated the National Day of Memory marking the May 8, 1945 Massacres under the slogan “A People Sacrificed… and Triumphed.” The event, organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, brought together members of the university community and the Lighthouse of History and Media Club.
University Rector Professor Bachir Ameur emphasized that commemorating this occasion reflects a national and moral commitment to Algeria’s history and the sacrifices of its martyrs. Dean Professor Redouane Zaâmouchi described the massacres as one of the worst crimes of French colonialism and stressed the role of academic research in preserving national memory and identity.
The program featured academic lectures, photo and book exhibitions, a documentary screening, and testimonies from Mujahideen from El Affroun to strengthen historical awareness among students.
