Towards a unified digital research environment… The University of Blida2 trains its researchers on international indexing tools

University of Blida 2 hosted a hands-on training workshop entitled « The Researcher’s Digital Identity, » under the theme: Toward a Unified Digital Environment for Scientific Research, bringing together laboratory heads, scientific journal editorial secretariats, and doctoral students from across the university’s faculties.
Rector Professor Bachir Amer emphasized that adopting a unified digital identity is no longer optional, but an institutional imperative, stressing that the university’s international visibility depends on its researchers’ active engagement with global scientific platforms.
Professor Meriem Touati, chair of the symposium, noted that the lack of a unified digital identity remains a major obstacle to the visibility of Algerian researchers’ output, as inconsistent name spellings across platforms lead to lost citations and fragmented impact indicators.
The workshop covered three key platforms: Research.dz, Google Scholar, and the ORCID iD identifier. It concluded with recommendations to make the unified digital identity a mandatory criterion in academic evaluation, standardize researchers’ Latin-script name spelling at the institutional level, and link the university’s international ranking indicators to its researchers’ actual presence on recognized indexing platforms.
