University of Blida 2 organizes a national forum on media and illegal immigration
The Department of Information and Communication Sciences at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, University of Blida 2, organized today the National Conference on: « Media and Illegal Immigration: Between Disinformation and Truth. » The university rector, Professor Bachir Ameur, officially opened the proceedings, stressing that « addressing the phenomenon of illegal immigration from a media research perspective is a necessary methodological step, as understanding the frameworks through which this phenomenon is presented in the media is fundamental to any serious scientific approach seeking to grasp its true dimensions. »
The Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, Professor Redhouane Zammouchi, noted that « the relationship between media discourse and the phenomenon of illegal immigration calls for an in-depth study grounded in content analysis and discourse critique methodologies. » The conference chair, Dr. Anissa Echiker, indicated that « the conference seeks to enable an objective reading of media representations of the illegal immigration phenomenon and to measure their impact on shaping collective awareness among Algerian youth. »
The opening paper was delivered by Dr. Bachir Messitefa, President of the Algerian Foundation Industry of Tomorrow, under the title: « Illegal Immigration: Drivers and Implications for the Future of a Generation — A Prospective Vision.
