The Rector of the University of Blida 2 inaugurates a national symposium on eco-tourism marketing as a driver for sustainable tourism development in Algeria

Rector of the University of Blida 2 opened the national conference entitled « The Shift Toward Ecotourism Marketing: Opportunities and Challenges for Sustainable Tourism Development in Algeria », organised by the Faculty of Economic, Commercial and Management Sciences, with the participation of researchers, academics, and professionals from universities across the country.
In his opening address, Professor Ameur affirmed that the choice of this topic reflects the university’s awareness of the importance of linking scientific research to priority economic and environmental issues, noting that Algeria possesses diverse natural and cultural tourism assets that call for responsible development in the interest of future generations. He stated that « ecotourism marketing is no longer a secondary option — it has become a strategic entry point for enhancing the competitiveness of Algeria as a destination and achieving a balance between economic development and environmental protection. » He called on participants to produce practical scientific recommendations contributing to the formulation of an Algerian model for ecotourism marketing.
Conference Chair Professor Zouaoui Omar Hamza explained that the event comes in the context of growing interest in environmental and sustainability issues, adding that the conference aims to provide an academic space for the exchange of expertise and perspectives between researchers, professionals, and decision-makers — to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the shift toward ecotourism marketing and its contribution to sustainable tourism development in Algeria.
The conference forms part of the activities of the research team on « Ecotourism Marketing as a Strategic Requirement for Achieving Sustainable Tourism Development in Algeria. »
