Professor Farid Kourtel participated in a meeting at the headquarters of the Provincial People’s Assembly of Blida
Professor Farid Kourtel, the Rector of the University of Blida 2 Lounici Ali, participated in a meeting on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Provincial People’s Assembly of Blida, presided over by Mr. Abdelmoumen Daoud, President of the Assembly. This meeting brought together rectors and directors of higher education institutions in the province, including Professor Mohamed Bezzina, Rector of the University of Saad Dahlab – Blida 1, and Dr. Abdelhamid Habouche, Director of the Higher School of Irrigation, with Mr. Hamoud Zawawi, Chairman of the Education and Vocational Training Committee, and deputies and members of the Assembly.
Professor Kourtel discussed the university’s planning for the 2025-2026 academic year, which was initiated in July and ends with the inauguration date of September 22. He pointed to challenges surrounding the minimal amount of student recreational space and sport facilities, limited parking space, and the need to expedite two strategic projects: a 2,000-seat teaching facility and the location for the new rectorate.
The meeting also took part in some academic conversations around system improvement in higher education, research and local community development, skill alignment to the labor market, and strengthening partnerships. Through the Assembly expressed and emphasized the importance of acting as the bridge between students’ issues and the appropriate authorities to develop on-the-ground solutions and long-term strategies that foster holistic development in the province.
